Very similar to Edgefield way, we took down the existing garage to build a new, slightly bigger garage which accommodated a ground floor bedroom and ensuite to the rear, with easy access to the back garden and a new 1 bedroom granny flat above for the family to reside. As this was a long-term residence, the budget was extended to accommodate detailed cladding and window reveals along with high levels of insulation and a wonderful kitchen and ensuite.

When space is at a premium a new garage and granny flat above can be an ideal solution. Working closely with the client to maximise their budget, we created a terrific studio apartment/granny flat and garage space optimised for storage, the car and/or easy access to the front lawn for the family to enjoy.

One element of the brief was to get an ocean outlook from the shower; we did!

In place of the old garage, the new one-bed granny flat / studio and separate workshop, have transformed this property, with the concrete pool seamlessly marrying the existing house to the outside area and granny flat perfectly.

While only a relatively small footprint, the space feels much bigger than on plan with an array of detailed finishes and features that belie many a high-end custom home.

The decked area and pool, with outdoor shoer and water feature provide the feeling on luxury and works to the external elevation of the existing house visually tie the two structures together from whichever aspect you chose to relax.

This garage conversion has given the home a whole new dimension, with the granny flat / studio providing a unique space for the owners to use as a separate family room, Airbnb, pool house and working-from-home studio.

The burnished concrete floors meld in perfectly with the softer furnishings and without doubt, the large stacker doors make for a wonderful aspect both looking from inside out, and outside in.

With a narrow block and tight access, this almost ‘secluded’ one-bed granny flat with separate studio, has nestled in perfectly to the rear of this Fremantle block.

The dark metal cladding is off-set by highly insulated timber walls and roof, with the raking roofline giving the impression of substantially more space inside than the actual area would suggest.

Honed concrete floors are separated by the colourful tiling to the bathroom floor and matched well with rugs and soft furnishings in the bedroom.

Newly designed two-storey home with pool and separate pool house to the rear, for a client and their growing family. We worked with the clients on the initial concepts, approvals, plans, construction and landscaping to provide a full turn-key project.

With limited space and tight access, it took a bit of creativity to design and make overseas, a wonderful fully-finished modular granny flat, which we assembled onsite in three weeks. This sat atop the new oversized garage/fitness studio which we built prior to arrival of the two modules which came finished with double glazing, full kitchen with stone benchtops and glass splashback, full-height tiles in the bathroom, bamboo floors and quality fixtures and fittings.
